Our Story

Jenny and Joseph first met in the fall of 2019 at the Agape youth group at Queen of Vietnamese Martyrs Church. At the time, they were friendly faces among many, but life had a funny way of bringing them together again. When Joseph began attending Regis University, Jenny helped show him around campus. Before long, they found themselves sharing more than just familiar hallways: Joseph joined the club where Jenny was president, they worked the same work-study job, and their paths kept crossing in the most “coincidental” ways.

What started as chance run-ins in the library and passing hellos in the hallways soon became routine stops. Joseph would spend his free hour in the library, knowing Jenny would be there. Eventually, as winter rolled around, he worked up the courage to ask her out on their first date. Jenny had been wanting to see Frozen 2, and Joseph happily offered to take her. The night ended with ice skating at Belmar, and a week later, Joseph asked Jenny to be his girlfriend. The rest, as they say, was history.

Their families blended effortlessly, becoming close almost immediately. As it turns out, Joseph had been a childhood friend of Jenny’s brother, Kevin—who still proudly takes credit for the relationship to this day. Together, Jenny and Joseph weathered many storms, including COVID, school, and work. When Jenny graduated and was accepted into dental school in California, Joseph and his entire family helped her move. What followed was over four years of long distance—filled with patience, commitment, and unwavering support.

In December of 2023, during Christmas break, Jenny was invited to go ice skating at Belmar with her college friends. She happily agreed and asked if Joseph could join—unaware that the entire evening had been carefully orchestrated by him. After skating, the group walked toward the grand Christmas tree, where they “coincidentally” ran into the rest of Jenny’s family. When photos were suggested, Jenny thought nothing of it and stepped forward to pose. In that very same spot where they had shared their first date years earlier, Joseph says everything became a blur—he forgot the speech he had carefully prepared—but surrounded by family and friends, he knelt down and asked Jenny to marry him. Overjoyed, she said yes.

Now, more than two years later, Jenny has graduated dental school and is finally back home in Denver. After overcoming distance and growing together through every season, Jenny and Joseph are beyond excited to begin this next chapter of their lives as husband and wife!
